Dancers perform range of skills at show

On Wednesday 27th and Thursday 28th of February the Mind, Body & Soul Dance show took place.

Over 180 dancers from the Prep and Senior School took part in the show and their performances were excellent, dancing with focus and professionalism in the Theatre.

Success at Dance Factor qualifiers nets Katy finals place

An U4 dancer has pirouetted her way to the finals of a prestigious national dance competition.

Katy was among nearly 1,000 dancers taking part in the Dance Factor 2019 qualifiers on Sunday 17th February, vying to be one of the top six dancers in each age category to qualify for the finals in November.

Scholar wins spot on hit BBC show

Headington Dance Scholar Rheia is to appear in front of an audience of millions after securing a spot in the live shows of a BBC talent show.

Rheia, L5, was asked to join ‘Company Jinks’, a 14-piece contemporary/commercial dance troupe after four of the initial line-up from the auditions of ‘The Greatest Dancer’ were unable to commit to the live shows.

Girls work with professional dancers for challenging workshop

On Wednesday 3rd October L5 and U5 GCSE dancers took part in a dance day workshop.

They were taught by two professional dancers from James Cousins Dance Company and the workshop was based on one of the GCSE set works 'Within Her Eyes'.

Fantastic house spirit in dance contest

A riot of colourful costumes, slick moves and clever choreography filled the School Hall for our annual House Dance competition.

The event, always a highlight of the Competitive House calendar, was outstanding, with the standard of dancing matched only by the enthusiastic support offered by everyone in the audience.

Girls get into the spirit of Cowley Road Carnival

Oxford's biggest free public event, Cowley Road Carnival, saw three of our talented young dancers putting on a fantastic display as part of the carnival's dance performances.

Dance scholars Tinu, L4, Yasmin, L5, and Freya, L4,  The girls worked incredibly hard preparing for the event and their dance was based on the professional work 'A Linha Curva', combining a variety of styles including Contemporary, Capoeira and Samba.

Scholars take part in Young Players' Festival

On Sunday 25th March four of our Dance Scholars, Tinu, Charlotte, Yasmin and Kitty, performed at the Burton Taylor Studio in Oxford as part of the Young Players’ Festival.

The girls performed group pieces as well as their own choreography and they were outstanding. Congratulations on their excellent work.

Host of awards for Rock Challenge dancers

Thirty-five girls from U4 to L6 took part in the annual Rock Challenge event in High Wycombe on Tuesday 13th March.

The Headington girls performed a dance based on 'The boy who cried wolf' and explored the moral behind the story. All involved worked incredibly hard leading up to the performance and the Dance Department is very proud of them all.

The girls received awards for: soundtrack, visual enhancement, entertainment and drama as well as picking up third place overall.

'Mind, Body & Soul' production is a hit

More than 130 girls danced in front of a packed audience for this year’s Mind Body & Soul show.

The audience was treated to fast-paced, thought-provoking dances across the spectrum of ages, from Year 4 in the Prep School to girls in their last year of Sixth Form.

There was high energy and sassy Street Dance, beautiful Ballet pieces and striking Contemporary Dance numbers.
