U12 Hockey sides come second and fourth in county tournament

Headington's U12 Hockey players headed to Tudor Hall for their first experience of senior school County Hockey Championships.

For the first time, Headington were taking two sides, an A and a B team. This was very exciting and a real testament to the strength and depth of the year group.

Strong London performance from Football teams

Headington School Football Club played two matches away in London Wednesday 6th February at Notting Hill and Ealing School in the Independent School National Cup competition.  

The 1st XI won 3-1 on a quagmire of a pitch that resulted in a scrappy game of Football. Two goals from Christy, one from Annie and a fine penalty save from Phoebe ensured that Headington are still in contention to secure a spot in the semi finals with a win against Oxford High next week.

U12 B side perform impressively in St Hugh's tournament

Congratulations go to our U12B Netball team after winning their tournament unbeaten.

The girls took part in the St Hugh's Netball tournament on Wednesday 30th January. Of the six games played, they were unbeaten throughout, winning five and drawing one.

Golf lessons introduced

The newest sport to be introduced at Headington is Golf.

This term a group of Headington girls started golf lessons at the Oxford Golf Club, formerly known as Southfields.

The girls visit the course weekly and are learning a different range of clubs and shots ready to play on the main course. The lessons are with golf professional Joe Pepperell, whose brother Eddie is ranked inside the worlds top 40 golfers and is the current British Open champion.

Girls win place in national Cross Country finals

Our Cross Country teams were out in force on Thursday 31st January braving the chilly weather at Radley College, the county version of the English Schools Cross Country competition.

There were three age group race categories and the first eight runners back have automatically qualified to represent Oxfordshire at the English Schools Cross Country Finals.

Darcy, Alexandra and Louise impress with foil

Three girls have qualified for the finals of the Southern Region British Youth Championship Foil.

Darcy, Louise and Alexandra all fenced at the qualifying contest in Swindon on Sunday 27th January. They were fencing in the Girls U14 age group.

Darcy was the number one seed throughout the competition until meeting a British Youth Championship medalist from last year, meaning Darcy was forced to settle for a bronze medal. Louise was seeded second and managed to reach the final of the direct elimination competition only to beaten by Darcy's opponent/

U5 girl is on team for European tournament

Gifted Netball player Emma has been selected to play for England Netball in an upcoming tournament.

Last year, Emma, in U5, won a place in the squad, one of 15 U17 players in the England Roses Academy.

Following trials on Sunday 20th January in Loughborough, she got the call for her first tournament playing for her country. Emma will be part of England's U17 team for Netball Europe 2018, facing Wales, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Emirates in the tournament in Huddersfield. The matches take place over three days at the beginning of March, starting on Friday 1st March.

Sabreuse is called up to fence for England Youth Squad

An U4 fencer has been given the nod for England.

Darcy has been selected to fence Sabre for England Youth Squad in Wratislava, Poland, next March.

This is the second fencer from Headington to have been selected for England Youth Squad in the last three years. Darcy follows in the footsteps of Tegen, L5. Congratultions to Darcy and good luck for March!

Headington's U15 Hockey side are celebrating after being crowned undefeated County Champions - without conceding a single goal.

Medals and team prizes for fencers at Foil Rally

On Sunday our fencers got festive at the Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire Foil Rally.

The event is an end of year pre-Christmas fun  team event for fencers - although still hotly contested. This year the competition was held at Wycombe Leisure centre with 19 teams from across the three counties taking part and an incredible 372 bouts of fencing taking place over the five and a half hour contest.
