Fantastic showing at Public Schools Fencing Competition

This year Headington took a team of 13 girls to the three-day Public Schools' Fencing Championships at Crystal Palace. All the girls took part in two weapon categories and 10 team members chose to compete in all three weapons - Foil, Epee and Sabre. All 13 fenced in the Girls' Foil events on the first day.

Netballers unbeaten en route to championship win

The U15A team went to their County Netball Tournament on Saturday 23rd March.

After training hard all season, they were aiming for the win. All the training paid off, as they won every single match all the way through to the final.

Unbeaten all day, they achieved their goal and won the tournament and are very excited for what’s to come next year.

Girls achieve sixth and fourth positions in Modern Biathlon Championships

Biathlon this term has finished off on a high for our participants.

Evey in U3  and Lily in L4 aimed high for their run and swim for the National Schools Biathlon Championships held at Crystal Palace on Saturday 16th March.

Gold for J16 8 in the School's Head of the River

Headington's J16 Eight took gold at the prestigious School's Head of the River on Friday 15th March.

This is one of the major rowing events of the calendar, seeing the girls compete against the best rowing schools and clubs in the country. The School's Head is raced from Chiswick to Putney (reverse of the University Boat Race course) and the crew of Katie, Phoebe, Claudia. Anna, Evie, Sabina, Eleanor, Trudie and cox Lizzie took victory in their category by a convincing margin of eight seconds.

U13s reach quarter finals in Plate Competition

On Tuesday 12th March, the Headington U13 Hockey team headed to Woking Hockey Club to compete in the Regional Hockey Tournament.

The girls had secured a place in the regional tournament after winning their county tournament a few weeks previously. They had three group matches against Cheam,  St John's and Laytmer.

Black belt chosen for England squad for important international contest

A U4 karateka has been selected to compete in the Japan Karate Association, JKA, Junior European Karate Championships in May in Kadan, Czech Republic.

Ayako trained with the JKA England squad last summer after winning a bronze medal in the JKA Nationals in June and also this autumn. She went for the annual squad trials in November and was invited to join the squad after that.

Gifted swimmer will vie for place in British Championships

A gifted young Headington swimmer will be competing against girls from around the world at an international meet in Edinburgh this weekend, 15th - 17th March.

Headington to field four girls in British finals

Three Headington fencers came home with five medals after taking part in the Southern Region Epee and Sabre qualifiers for the finals of the British Youth Championships.

The contest on Sunday saw Alexandra, U4, Darcy, U4 and Tegen, L5, representing the School at the qualifying event in Swindon on Sunday 10th March. All three fenced in the Epee age groups and Darcy and Tegen also fenced in the Sabre qualifiers.

Gifted netballer Emma, U5, has got her first England cap after being selected to play for England in the Netball Europe U17 tournament.

The U13 Hockey team arrived at Tudor Hall School on Thursday 28th February looking to emulate their success from last year’s county championship victory, retaining their trophy and progressing to regionals once again.
