Girls celebrate with Hollywood themed ball.

The U5 celebrated in style at their Hollywood themed Oscars ball in July.

The theatre was transformed with elegant red drapes, a 50 foot red carpet and life-size Oscars, not to mention the jelly bean and marshmallow sweet trees decorating the tables and bar area.

With almost 200 in attendance the evening was an immense success as everyone enjoyed great company in a beautiful setting. The girls were spectacularly attired, many in full length gowns with matching glittering heels, with dashing young men in tuxedos, making the whole evening a very glamorous one to remember.

Problem solving day for young scientists.

The Olympics were the theme of this year's U4 group challenge - an opportunity for students to spend a whole day on a science project.

The U4 girls worked in small groups to solve problems across the three sciences and to develop their team working skills.

This year's projects included a giant Mexican wave machine, the design of a high performance shoe and research into how muscles work.

Museum visit for Lower School girls.

L4 Latin students enjoyed a recent visit to the Corinium Museum in Cirencester. The museum houses some superb mosaics which rival those to be found in the British Museum.  By closely exploring the museum and its artefacts the girls had the chance to put into context what they have studying about the Romanisation of Britain.

Fun, thrilling, adrenaline-fuelled and invigorating - the IB Diploma Programme has been an exciting ride for the U6 students who have just finished their final exams.

All the students took last week’s celebratory trip to Thorpe Park in their stride and were not fazed by Stealth, Colossus, Nemesis Inferno or the Swarm, which they conquered cheerily.

We congratulate them all on their successes within the IB course and we wish them well for results day on 6 July.

Head Girl scores maximum marks in IB Diploma.

Head Girl Beth Swords has scored top marks in the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma.

Beth, 18, who has now secured her place to read History at Cambridge University, achieved a point score of 45 – 45 being the maximum score possible. Scores in the 40s are considered outstanding. In 2011 only 0.24 per cent of the 53,000 candidates worldwide scored maximum marks.

Headington's rowers enjoyed international success this summer.

Biathlon success for Prep School pupil.

Congratulations to year 5 pupil Zakira from the Prep School who competed in the National Schools’ Biathlon Finals in Bath on 24 March and finished 29th out of 70 competitors.

Zakira gained a new personal best by 4.2 seconds in the run. This was a great achievement, so well done Zakira.

Girls triumph at inter-county tournament.

Congratulations to Prep School girls Ellie, L3, and Victoria, L2, who were part of Oxfordshire’s U11 girls’ team which won the quadrangular inter-county tournament in Reading on 14 January.
